Old Earth Expeditions offers unique wilderness experiences through sailing and mountaineering expeditions in British Columbia. Our professional guides focus on transferring solid wilderness skills as well as a strong sense of environmental stewardship.
Explore the rugged beauty and local culture of the Pacific Northwest’s remote inside passage and Coast Range aboard an umiak, a large skin on frame sailing canoe. Unlike sea kayaking, travel by umiak enables us to conduct expeditions with up to eight people and large amounts of gear aboard a single vessel.
Our expeditions are staged at Heather Island, which is located among the colorful local cultures of the inside passage at the gate to Desolation Sound. As we guide you through the local culture, you will gain a deep awareness of this rich bioregion through our intimate knowledge of the area.
Old Earth Expeditions conducts expeditions in the most environmentally friendly way possible which includes all travel on land using a bio-diesel run van and a diet of 75% organic food.
